Volunteer Initiatives
The smallest act of kindness is worth more than the grandest intention. - Oscar Wilde

About:
The Magic of Christmas is a not-for-profit charity focused on delivering the Christmas Spirit of loving, caring and sharing to many. The Magic of Christmas brings laughter, songs, hugs, as well as, gifts, necessities and referrals to other support groups in our community. The charity works with City of Calgary social services and the Calgary Police Service to make sure Santa doesn't miss anyone who needs a special visit. Every Christmas Eve, Calgary Transit buses are magically transformed into reindeer sleighs, with Santa and his elves and visit homes and hospital rooms of people who are in despair. No matter the reason, the charity works hard to make sure that those in despair experience loving, caring and sharing during a time of the year that is supposed to be joyful. |

About:
Seniors Secret Service is a registered charity with a mission to enhance the quality of life for isolated senior citizens, a marginalized segment of our population. The elderly in our society often find themselves to be the "forgotten ones," and many are isolated, with no family or support network. The year 2012 marks the 27th Christmas season and the 4th year of Birthday Cheer for Seniors Secret Service. Through out this long history, we have found anonymous donors who selflessly provide personalized gifts for these elders. Now more than ever, demographic changes indicate a rising need for seniors' services and an increasing number of isolated seniors. Our mission is to ensure that no seniors are left out at Christmas or on their Birthday. We currently focus on Calgary and surrounding areas, but dream of one day serving the rest of Alberta, and beyond. |
